An evening in M.G Marg, the most important pathway in the city of Gangtok. People often visit this place to spend their evenings. In fact, any traveler who comes to Gangtok would not leave the place without spending an evening here. Such is the ambiance of the pathway. Although in name, M.G Marg is a pathway; this is an important shopping center in Gangtok.

One might feel like he is spending an evening in the finest street in Europe when he walks through these paths. Vehicles are prohibited here, and they have a different route to move along.
Although signboards are not kept in every twenty meters like in other places; M G Marg is smoke-free and begger-free. Except for one signboard at the beginning of the pathway which reads, ‘Welcome M.G Marg, spit-free and litter-free zone.’
The place is very neat and no signs of garbage is be found anywhere. A lot of wayside restaurants and bars are present here. While some enjoy the rejuvenating effects of tea, others take pleasure in drinking beer and wines. People scurrying home after work is a common sight here. Shopping centers are present everywhere.

Souvenirs, gift shops, shops selling leather goods, clothes, and electronics are few of the trades at Marg. Every nook and corner of Marg would be flooding with people from 4 pm to 10 pm. Besides, the place does not have unnecessary noises or acts disturbing the public. Almost all cultural and food fests in Gangtok are held here.
From old aged people to children, couples, and families, everyone spends their time here in their own ways. The front walls of all buildings are painted green. The trees planted on either side of streets for shade; the perfectly tiled roads and the well dressed fashionable public makes one believe that one is in a European street.

Any traveler who comes to Gangtok must visit this place. Because the heart of every city is its streets. When one walks through these streets, observing things that are otherwise oblivious to the eyes, one learns better about the various cultures and lifestyles of the place.
