Have you ever visited Switzerland? Are you thinking of a journey to the loveliest place of the world? Are the formalities holding you back?? Here I invite you to the beautiful Himalayan region Chopta…the mini Switzerland in India.. It is located at some 8790 kilometers high from sea level…one of the five sacred mountains according to Indian mythology ( Thunganath )…..and their base camp.. It stands solemnly holding its head in pride as if the tress of Lord Shiva.

The craftsmanship of the nature is displayed well here.. The creator blessed this piece of land so lavishly…to cherish the traveler’s heart…its beauty had attracted many well known travelers. Now good accommodation is available here. Day by day Chopta does something or the other to improvise herself to attract more travelers…she was not electrified during my first visit. Now she is illuminated as a celestial princess with electric light

One who is fond of trekking can have extreme fun here..the four kilometer trekking from Chopta to Thunganath temple will be an exciting one…but we must be alert as we are going on a dangerous trekking course after Thunganath to Chandrasila through a steep and dangerous mountain roads.
The second highiest mountain Nanda Devi’s beautiful snowcladed bowed head can be seen from here. The Kedarnath and many other mountains stand behind her as a wailed bride’s party. The sight of Himavan in his golden robe would make the traveler crazy for him. The road leads to Thunganath is blessed with different kinds of wild plants and wide variety of animals.
If the traveler is fond of the wildlife photography…never feels to come back..leaving beautiful Chopta behind him…surely he will remain spellbound by its flora and fauna. The passionate journey through Gupthakasi always attracts travellers for many causes. To enjoy the nature’s original beauty of The Himalayas..and to dissolve into the enchanting mountains…and to have a great and adventurous time of trucking (Now ponys are available) you must visit the shy Himalayan green beauty Chopda that lies in the lap of great Himavan….
You can also take a trek to the temple in Tunganath. This trek can be easily completed without any guidance, as the roads to this temple are well paved and set. The temple at Tunganath is located at an altitude of 3660 meters.
