It is located at some 8790 kilometers high from sea level…one of the five sacred mountains according to Indian mythology ( Thunganath )…..and their base camp.. It stands solemnly holding its head in pride as if the tress of Lord Shiva.
The craftsmanship of the nature is displayed well here.. The creator blessed this piece of land so lavishly…to cherish the traveler’s heart…its beauty had attracted many well known travelers. Now good accommodation is available here. Day by day Chopta does something or the other to improvise herself to attract more travelers…she was not electrified during my first visit. Now she is illuminated as a celestial princess with electric light
One who is fond of trekking can have extreme fun here..the four kilometer trekking from Chopta to Thunganath temple will be an exciting one…but we must be alert as we are going on a dangerous trekking course after Thunganath to Chandrasila through a steep and dangerous mountain roads.
